The scheme, which is due to last three weeks, will include resurfacing, drainage clearing, signage updating, road marking improvements and litter picking.
The work will be carried out on a 3.2km stretch of the road using a road closure between 8am and 5pm on Monday to Friday. Saturday working will be carried out if required. The work is not being carried out at night due to the night time low temperatures which can cause problems with resurfacing
Cllr Elfan Ap Rees, North Somerset Council’s executive member with responsibility for roads said the scheme demonstrated North Somerset Council’s ongoing commitment to investing in the road network.
“Investment in roads continues to be high on our agenda and we remain committed to maintaining and improving roads across North Somerset.
“This is a busy commuter route for many North Somerset residents and the scheme will result in a brand new road surface which will last around 20 years. The road closure will also provide the opportunity to carry out other essential maintenance at the same time making the most effective use of the road closure.”
Various diversion routes will be in place during the road closure depending on the weight of the vehicle. Diversion route signs will be in place.
